The following Sandia-developed applications may be of particular interest to our potential partners in industry: -- Microfluidics and microseparations - On-chip protein separation, identification, and concentration for high-throughput biological analyses. -- Diagnostics systems - Microfluidic platforms designed to rapidly detect biomarkers in samples of bodily fluids (e.g., saliva, blood, etc.). -- Molecular and cellular imaging - Hyperspectral imaging of DNA microarrays to determine sources of error; confocal microscopy to directly observe the dynamic behavior and distribution of proteins within a cell's cytoplasm or membrane. -- Computational biology and biophysics - Massively parallel molecular dynamics simulations; protein and gene network inference; inverse quantitative structure-activity relationship approaches to predict ligands to a particular protein target.
