One of the factors influencing the speed of microfluidics R&D and use of microfluidics in education has been the availability of suitable microfluidic devices. In the past, these devices had to be custom-made for any application or any protocol revision. With our Microfluidic Toolbox, we make a large portfolio of generic microfluidic functions such as mixing, filtration, reservoirs, droplet generation etc. available through standardized modules. These modules, typically the size of a microscopy slide, can be combined freely to perform more complex microfluidic protocols. During our LiveLab session, we will introduce the concept of the microfluidic toolbox and you will be able to work on different examples such as mixing, DNA extraction, immunoassays or electrophoresis. The LiveLabs will familiarize you with the modularization concept as well as instruments and interface standards for fast off-the-shelf microfluidics.
