Shark Tank Overview  |  Shark Tank Guidelines  |  Shark Tank Submission

Have a great, game-changing idea? We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting the first ever Shark Tank event at MicroTAS 2017. MicroTAS is the premier forum (with over 1000 participants from around the world) for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for life science and chemistry.

As you know, the biochip market is expected to grow to over USD 17 Billion by 2020*. As a field, we have seen many successes already, and many of these commercial successes come from the researchers who are very active at MicroTAS.

Now we have a forum to showcase these newest breakthrough technologies. Finalists will compete in LIVE Shark Tank for thousands of dollars in prize money, in-kind services, and potential investments.

The Shark Tank event will be prominently showcased in the Main Auditorium at MicroTAS 2017 in Savannah, Georgia October 22-26, 2017.

Confirmed Judges Include:
Allen Northrup, PhD, Founder of Cepheid and Microfluidic Systems)
Fiona Adair, PhD, VP Strategy & Innovations, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics
Richard Fair, PhD, Founder of Advanced Liquid Logic and Lord-Chandran Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Duke University
Quan Nguyen, Patent Attorney and Partner,Nguyen & Tarbet

To enter, simply upload a short elevator pitch (90 seconds or less) explaining the problem you are addressing, the market size, the current competing technology landscape, your idea/approach and why it is better, and the current state of development. Please visit the Shark Tank Guidelines page for more information.

This competition is open to students, researchers, post-docs, and faculty. You do not need to have a company yet to compete, but filed intellectual property highly encouraged.

Finalists will receive complimentary registration to MicroTAS 2017.

Deadline to enter is September 29, 2017. Finalists will be announced by October 15, 2017.

Good luck & we look forward to seeing your submissions!
