In this Live Lab CorSolutions will demonstrate the flexibility of their connection stations. The stations are designed with nesting inserts, so that any station can accommodate a wide variety of microdevice footprints. The flexibility of the station continues with the probe connectors which are used to rapidly establish leak-tight, non-permanent connections. These probe connectors have modular heads that can be quickly exchanged and allow for compatibility with a wide variety of tubing sizes. The compressive force with which the leak-tight seals are established, can also be controlled. Additionally the connection stations offer a variety of high performance fluid delivery pumps, all with active-feedback sensor control. These non-pulsatile pumps offer unprecedented control with stop flow capabilities, user-friendly software, and optional LabVIEW VIs. Participants will get hands-on experience in configuring and using all components of the connection station. Rancho Way, Suite 107 Rancho Dominguez, CA 90220 USA phone: 1-877-707-8575 fax: 1-770-818-5475 email: info@alineinc.com www.alineinc.com An 8-channel pneumatic instrument platform, the ADEPT, actuates the basic functions need to perform an assay; metering, mixing, degasing and dispensing (M2D2). The M2D2 is a demonstration Lab Chip that performs a 1:5 dilution of two metered solutions, mixes, de-bubbles, and then dispenses the solution to the detection cell. The detection cell is a pop-on module that interfaces with an Ocean Optics fiber optic spectrometer. The device and actuation protocol will be demonstrated to show what is possible with our platform technology. The compact, off-chip generator enables the creation of combinatorial droplet arrays of up to 24 different reagents and introduces them into a flow-through microfluidic system whilst accurately controlling droplet size and frequency via PC software. Mitos Dropix® can generate simple droplet sequences with variable type and size and store up to 1000 droplets in a droplet library, with sizes down to 50nl. It is also capable of pairwise merging by creating a droplet sequence and merging successive pairs of droplets to create concentration gradients. The technology can even be extended from nanoliter to picoliter by creating 'daughter droplets' from a droplet train. A variety of applications would benefit from Mitos Dropix®, such as droplet library creation, cell encapsulation, diagnosis screening, cell assays, ratiometric screening for protein crystallization and directed evolution of enzymes. Julian Claveria s/n, Floor 1 - Room 4-6 Oviedo, 33006 SPAIN phone: +34-984-151-019 email: info@micruxfluidic.com www.micruxfluidic.com In this Live Lab, MicruX will demonstrate the performance of the second-generation of a battery-powered portable electrophoresis instrument for the use of microfluidic electrophoresis chips with electrochemical detection (iHVStat) [+]. This innovative instrument is completely cableless and it is fully-automated by means of a user-friendly PC interface, MicruX Manager, which enables the configuration of multiple experiments. Thus, the second-generation brings a more compact and integrated electrophoresis platform for "in-situ" applications using microfluidic chips in an easy way. Moreover, the performance of novel thin-film electrochemical sensors (based on metal electrodes and microelectrodes) that can be easily integrated on microfluidic devices will be also demonstrated together with innovative accessories (All-in-One platform). A simple series of analytical experiments will be carried out in-situ in order to demonstrate the excellent performance of the most advanced microfluidic platforms and electrochemical sensors.
