The µTAS 2021 registration fees follow the precedent of other hybrid conferences in 2021, with registration fees and flexibility more favorable to µTAS attendees in several cases. In-person fees match those of µTAS 2019.

We understand that flexibility is important in 2021. Should you decide to join us in-person after registering for remote attendance, (1) your paid remote registration fee will be applied to your in-person registration as well as if you decide you no longer are able to be in-person and need to change to remote; and (2) you will be charged the in-person registration fee that applied when the you initially registered for remote attendance. Given the expected dynamic international travel situation, this option is designed to offer some measure of flexibility to our international attendees, who we hope can join us in-person but may not know until late Summer or early Fall 2021.

We understand that transparency is important. The µTAS Conferences are administered by a non-profit organization, The Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society (CBMS), and this year's registration fees are designed to allow conference operations to break even. Incurring debt from the µTAS 2021 meeting could adversely impact future µTAS Conference offerings and the CBMS non-profit organization. Several of our peer scholarly non-profits are in financial crisis in 2021. While µTAS 2021 is CBMS's first hybrid µTAS conference, the format is being designed to uniquely satisfy our core aims: (1) to provide premier scientific content, while (2) opening inclusive channels for discussion, mentoring, and networking regardless of the attendee's in-person or virtual status. Going forward, we aim to use this inaugural hybrid µTAS meeting as a path to enhancing future meetings through the option of hybrid participation.

To ensure that all participants receive their credentials and conference materials prior to the start of the conference, the ability to change from remote to in-person will end on 24 September 2021. Remote registrations received after 7 October will need to submit payment by credit card only and will be subject to delay in access to conference material. Registration payment, in U.S. Dollars ($), is due upon submission of registration. The registration fee includes an electronic copy of conference proceedings and hybrid conference sessions. All requests for refunds must be received in writing no later than 1 October 2021 and will be assessed a 20% cancellation fee. No refunds will be made after that date. A $50.00 fee will be charged for all substitutions.

The Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society (CBMS) is offering grants to offset registration fees, on a competitive basis, for attendees of LMICs to the upcoming MicroTAS Conference. More information may be found on our LMIC Grant page.
