In-Person Plenary & Keynote Speakers:

A µTAS like none other. Whether you are joining this hybrid conference remotely or in Palm Springs, you'll have an experience that leverages our strong community and emerging virtual platforms to offer one of science's first hybrid conferences.

On-site attendees: See you in Palm Springs! We're created a hybrid conference experience in which in-person attendees will be treated to a 'conference-in-a-conference': Think Gordon Research Conferences, intimate conferences with ample opportunities to connect with colleagues multiple times, not just once quickly in passing. Some unique aspects for our in-person attendees in Palm Springs:
  • Our main in-person stage will be devoted entirely to IN-PERSON Plenaries, Keynote, and Submitted Oral Presentations, thus bringing you a truly immersive in-person conference experience.
    • Want to watch an in-person oral presentation? With strong in-person attendance from our Keynote and Oral presenters, an in-person Oral Session is happening all day, every day of microTAS 2021.
    • Prefer to view a virtual session? In-person attendees can view any virtual Oral Session on their own device, in either our roomy and quiet library space or in our spacious outdoor seating space, which is located in the stunning Esplanade breezeway.

  • The in-person Poster Sessions will be similar to typical in-person conferences, but in a comfortable, sit-down format that simultaneously spans both the in-person and virtual domains, using your laptop, our roomy library-like conference hall, and our virtual forum on your own device.

  • A social program that makes use of our beautiful outdoor Esplanade to connect established researchers with junior researchers from across industry and academia. Like a GRC, all meals are hosted at the conference center, so attendees will be co-located during breaks with no need to venture far to enjoy a meal or drink. Plus we have a series of low-key organized activities to help you get to know nearly everyone who is in-person at microTAS 2021.
In-person attendees include top research groups from a wide range of organizations: UC Berkeley, MIT, Wyss Institute, Harvard, Cornell, Purdue, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Virginia Tech, University of Utah, May Clinic, University of Washington, Colorado State, UC Santa Barbara, University of Minnesota, Brigham Young University, UC San Diego, Johns Hopkins, USC, Keck Graduate Institute, Duke, GeorgiaTech, UC Irvine, University of Maryland College Park, Indiana University, Harey Mudd, University of Michigan, Amazon Diagnostics, Bio-Techne, NIST, Draper, Phase, Microculus, Mekonos, Canon, Mykonos, Nanopath, CytoRecovery and many more.

Remote attendees: Clear your calendars for the largest, most diverse scientific program from a microTAS conference to date!
  • Showcasing your Research through hybrid Poster Presentations: In our first hybrid meeting we'll be using a radically new Poster format that designed to provide broad visibility to your research, while maintaining the ability to connect with a small expert audience for detailed discussion. Use Event Pilot -- our handy app -- to reach out to attendees, virtual or in-person.

  • Hybrid Program: The program is designed to accommodate different time zones, making it easier for remote colleagues to join throughout the conference week and to provide an networking-heavy environment for those who are joining on-site in Palm Springs.
Signature Hybrid events for MicroTAS attendees, remote or in-person:
  • Mentor LinkUp | 23 September 2021: Whether remote or in person, networking is notoriously difficult. At µTAS 2021, we are creating new ways for junior researchers to engage with diverse senior colleagues as mentors. In September 2021, µTAS 2021 will convene a fully remote Mentor LinkUp forum, where an established industry or academic Mentor (established industry or academic researcher) will gather with a small group of Mentees (trainees). These small group discussions will center on specific professional development themes of mutual interest to both the Mentee and Mentor. If you are interested in joining us, as a Mentee or Mentor, just check the interest box when completing your registration. More information and a questionnaire will follow for those registered, interested µTAS 2021 attendees.

  • Lab Sneak Peeks (Part 1): In these weeks leading up to µTAS 2021 in Palm Springs, the "µTAS 2021 | Lab Sneak Peeks" series provides virtual visits to leading research laboratories from around the world that focus on miniaturized systems for chemistry and life sciences!

  • Lab Sneak Peeks (Part 2)
  • Lab Sneak Peeks (Part 3)
  • Lab Sneak Peeks (Part 4)
For those who can travel to join us, we will see you in-person in Palm Springs, California!.
